Joint Trip with DFO to Eastern County Lakes
8:30 a.m. to early afternoon
A great time to get together and meet other Colorado birders as we join members of the Denver Field Ornithologists for a special fall outing. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Park N Ride at I-25 and CO 119 at the SE corner. Bird until early afternoon. Various lakes including Union, Sandstone (possible turkeys) and McIntosh Reservoirs. Bring lunch, binocks, scopes, water, snacks. Be prepared for variable to cold weather. Everyone welcome. Carpool from meeting place$2.00.

Cross Country for Crossbills

Find those elusive Crossbills on this trip up Flagstaff and into Myers Gulch and maybe beyond.
A joint trip with Boulder valley Audubon. Some driving and some walking. Wear warm footwear, be prepared for variable to cold weather. Bring binocular, hot drink, lunch & water, and energy snacks. Meet at East Boulder Rec Center, west end of main parking lot at 9 a.m. Carpool $2.00. Everyone welcome.

Winter Raptor Tour

One of our favorite winter trips to see the wintering raptors of Boulder County. This is a great way to hone your hawk I.D. skills. See Rough-legs Red tails, Golden Eagles, bald Eagles, etc. Be prepared for variable to cold weather, wear boots. Bring lunch and everything you need including carpool fee of $2.00. Bring scopes and two-way radios if you have 'em. Meet at Niwot Park N Ride, at intersection of Co 119 (Diagonal Highway) and Niwot Road at 9 a.m. and bird until afternoon. Everyone welcome.

I.D. Video of Gulls- John Vanderpoel. Here is a great opportunity to extend your
knowledge of birds. Great for both the novice and advanced birder.. We will go
to where the gulls are???? Meet at Niwot Park N Ride at 7:30 a.m. Co 119 (Diagonal
Highway and Niwot Road; and return in afternoon. Bring lunch, snacks water and
a hot drink. Dress for variable to COLD weather. Be prepared for the day. bring

Birding the Platte River Walk
8:45 a.m. to after lunch
This is a wonderful winter walk on a level, paved walk in Thornton. See some
of the special ducks of winter including Long-tailed Ducks, Barrowís Goldeneye
and Mergansers. Maybe even Peregrine Falcon. Dress for variable winter weather
, it can be balmy or down right cold, so be prepared.- whichever, itís a special
trip. Bring binoculars, scope if you have one, as well as lunch. Handicapped
accessible. Meet at East Boulder Rec Center, west end of parking lot at 8:45
a.m. and bird 'til after lunch. Carpool fee $3.00

Christmas Bird Count
Time TBA
All birders from novice to expert are encouraged to become part of the Christmas
Bird Count. Boulderís is one of the longest running in the history of the count.
Letís continue the tradition.
Please give the Coordinator Bill Schmoker a call at 303-702-9589 or email him
at bill@schmoker.org to sign up to be
placed on a team, or organize your own team of 4 or 5 and be assigned an area.
There is a $5.00 individual feel for participating. The information gained is
invaluable to scientists. Stay-at-home Feeder Watchers are also needed. Be a
part of it!

DIRECTIONS to meeting places:
*Walden Wildlife Habitat - off North 75th Street between
Valmont and Jay roads. Meet at Cottonwood Marsh parking
area.
**East Boulder Recreation Center - 5660 Sioux Drive. Take
55th Street from either Baseline or South Boulder Road, Meet
at west end of main parking lot.
***SAVERS parking lot at Table Mesa Shopping Ceneter off
Broadway 1/4 block south of intersection of Table Mesa and
Broadway.
CARPOOLING ON TRIPS: We would like to
ask that all participants pay their carpooling fee up front
to driver at the beginning of the trip. Many times at the
end of trip we forget and hopefully this will help as gas
continues to get more expensive. Please be prepared with
the exact amount, and don't wait for driver to ask you for
it. JUST DO IT. Thanks
