First Sunday Birding
9 a.m to noon
Walden Wildlife habitat. Meet at Cottonwood Marsh at 9 a.m. and bird until noon. Bird the Walden/Sawhill Complex for wintering waterfowl and birds. Dress for winter weather in layers, warm hat and mittens and boots. Bring binocular, scope, water and snack. Everyone welcome. Free.

Inside Valmont Reservoir
8:30 a.m. to unknown
Bird within the Xcel power plant grounds. Seek out wintering waterfowl, eagles, etc.. Meet the leaders at 8:30 a.m. in the power plant parking lot. Take 63rd Street north from Arapahoe and drive to cobblestone main gates on east side of road and drive in to the parking lot. Walk the grounds to various warm lakes to observe birds. Dress in layers for cold weather and wear boots. Bring water and a snack and scopes if you have one. A special treat for BBC members and guests.

Winter Raptor Tour
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tour the best areas north of Boulder to see wintering raptors. Meet at the Niwot Park 'N Ride at 9 a.m. and bird until 2 p.m. Take Diagonal Highway to Niwot exit, parking is between the lanes at Niwot exit. Bring lunch, snacks, water. Scope & two-way radios if you have one. Dress in layers as you will be in and out of cars. Carpool 2.00 to drivers. Bald eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, Ferruginious Hawks, Rough-legged Hawks, etc Everyone welcome.

Boulder Creek Path
9 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m.
Meet at Scott Carpenter Park parking lot at 9 a.m. and bird until about 11:30 a.m. Walk the west trail until you cross over to south side of Trail at Folsom. Bird the thicket at base of the CU rec center and return to Scott carpenter. The thicket often harbors a winter surprise or two. Bring binocular, water, snack and dress in layers for winter weather and wear boots. A nice walk on a winter morning. Free. Everyone welcome.

Winter Birds of the High Country
8 a.m. 'til early afternoon
Carpool to areas along the peak to peak Highway. Look for Rosy Finches, Evening Grosbeaks, Pine Grosbeaks, Clark's Nutcrackers, Grey Jays etc. Meet at Justice Center east end of the east parking lot off Canyon Blvd. at 8a.m. and bird until early afternoon. Bring money to buy lunch. Bring usual items, dress in layers for getting in and out of cars, binocular, two way radios etc. Money for carpool $3.00 each to driver. Don't miss this great trip.     *Walden Wildlife Habitat - off North 75th Street between Valmont and Jay roads. Meet at Cottonwood Marsh parking area.
    **East Boulder Recreation Center - 5660 Sioux Drive. Take 55th Street from either Baseline or South Boulder Road, Meet at west end of main parking lot.
    ***SAVERS parking lot at Table Mesa Shopping Ceneter off Broadway 1/4 block south of intersection of Table Mesa and Broadway.
  • CARPOOLING ON TRIPS: We would like to ask that all participants pay their carpooling fee up front to driver at the beginning of the trip. Many times at the end of trip we forget and hopefully this will help as gas continues to get more expensive. Please be prepared with the exact amount, and don't wait for driver to ask you for it. JUST DO IT. Thanks
