Brainard Lake Road and Trails
6:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
Enjoy the birds of the High Country by car and by hiking the willow carr areas along the Lake Mitchell Trail. This is one of Boulder Counties most beautiful areas, and is seldom birded. Don't pass up this opportunity! Pine Grosbeak, Fox Sparrow, Lincoln Sparrow, Dusky Flycatcher possible. Meet at 6:30 a.m. at the Four Mile Creek Open Space parking area, .03 miles west of North Broadway on Lee Hill Road to carpool. Dress in layers & have raingear, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, binocks, snacks, water etc. Return around 12:30 p.m. Carpool $3.00 each to driver. (P.S. Everyone who went on this trip last year raved about it!)

7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Join the group for early morning birding. Meet at East Boulder Recreation Center west end of main parking lot. Leave at precisely 7:30 a.m. and return to parking lot at 10:30 a.m. Leader will pick the area to bird each week. Carpool fee .50 city and 1.00 county wide. Bring all the usual. As always coffee and fellowship at Erhard's bakery in Meadows Shopping Center following birding.

Annual Summer Bird Walk and Picnic at Julie Hammerstrom's on top of Flagstaff Mountain
Time: 8 a.m. to early afternoon
Meet at the East Boulder Rec Center, west end of parking lot to carpool to Julie's home. This special summer event is a great opportunity to meet and bird with others in the club. We want to have more participation of our members in our activities. Please plan to come. See birds such as turkeys, bluebirds, nesting swallows, hummingbirds, etc! Bring your own picnic lunch. We would love to have you join us for this special time. Non walkers can stay around the house and visit and bird in the shade.

Hummers of the High Country
8 a.m. to early afternoon
Head for the cool of the hills to view LOTS of hummers, maybe even Calliope and Rufous along with Broadtails. Bring your lunch to eat at some lovely mountain spot. Carpool ($2.00 )from East Boulder Rec Center, west end of main parking lot at 8 a.m and return early afternoon. Bring your clean gallon jugs to get free, pure mountain spring water from Crystal Spring. Everyone welcome.

July 31, 2005 SUNDAY
Rocky Mountain National Park
8 a.m. to afternoon
Joint trip with DFO. Meet at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center RMNP at 8 a.m. Look for Williamson's Sapsuckers, nesting Bluebirds, Lincoln's Sparrows and Flycatchers, among others. Trip is a fairly easy hike of about 2 miles, easy walking. Be prepared for all weather conditions and bring lunch, water and snacks for 3/4 day of birding. A great way to learn to bird this wonderful park!

Look for Ptarmigan prior to birding the Upper Beaver Meadows trail. Mountain birds and who knows- maybe even a Three -toed Woodpecker! A repeat trip to a great place. See Camera Outdoors calendar for meeting place. Joint trip with BVAS (Boulder Valley Audubon Society). See these amazing birds in various locations in and around the foothills with the author of the famous Hummingbird Video. Possible Rufous, Calliope, Black-chinned in addition to Broad-winged. Plus other bird species encountered along the way. Bring warm jacket and raingear, binocks, water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, repellent, hat etc.

September 10, 2005 6 a.m. to Sunday September 11 at 6 p.m.
BIRDING OUT THE PLATTE
One of the few overnight birding trips for the BBC travels down the South Platte River birding through NE Colorado. Meet at Niwot Park N Ride at 6 a.m. on Saturday to head out on the first day to an overnight stay in Sterling. Birding sites on Saturday will depend on recent migrant reports but might include Prewitt Reservoir, Jackson Reservoir and North Sterling Reservoir. On Sunday we will head further east to Ovid (Cardinals?) and Jumbo Reservoir and work our way back home. Migrant shorebirds, warblers, flycatchers will abound and some rarities are likely. A full two days of birding so be prepared with lots of water, snacks, lunch for Saturday, hat, bug juice, sunscreen, binoculars and scope. Two way radio if you have one. We will have dinner Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday in restaurants, Call to sign up in advance, but please wait until the first of September to register ( no limit on # of people). Everyone welcome. Carpool fee is $20.00. A great trip- everyone will see something really exciting on this one!

Rabbit Mountain and Beyond
8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Meet at four mile creek open space parking lot on lee hill road 0.3 miles west from n broadway. Hike the trails at Rabbit Mountain and see Bushtits, migrating raptors, sparrows etc. Then hit the lakes and ponds around Hygiene and Lagerman on the way back and still return around 2 p.m. This is a great trip for those who enjoy walking and September is a great time to bird this area.

    ***SAVERS parking lot at Table Mesa Shopping Ceneter off Broadway 1/4 block south of intersection of Table Mesa and Broadway.
  • CARPOOLING ON TRIPS: We would like to ask that all participants pay their carpooling fee up front to driver at the beginning of the trip. Many times at the end of trip we forget and hopefully this will help as gas continues to get more expensive. Please be prepared with the exact amount, and don't wait for driver to ask you for it.
