Bird within Public Service property. A rare opportunity to
see these lakes up close. Meet at gate to Valmont Power Plant
on 55th Street, Boulder at
8:30 am. Bird 'til noon. Dress for weather. Have boots available if it is
muddy.

BALD EAGLE AND HAWK ADVENTURE
10am to 3pm
Tour the areas north of Boulder with a super hawk
watcher. Learn to identify the hawks and eagles. Meet at Four Mile Creek
Open Space
parking lot on Lee Hill Road, .03 miles west of north Broadway. Bring lunch,
water, snacks,
scopes and field guides and FHS radios if you have them. Dress for the
weather.
Joint trip with Boulder County Nature Association. Everyone welcome. Carpool

WINTER BIRDS OF THE HIGH COUNTRY
8 am to early afternoon
Carpool to areas along the Peak to Peak Highway in search
of those special winter birds: Rosy Finches, Evening and
Pine Grosbeaks,
Clark's Nutcracker and others. Dress in layers for cold outside weather and
warm cars.
Wear boots. Bring money for lunch at the Millsite Inn. Bring water and
snacks and
radios if you have 'em. Meet at Justice Center at 6th and Canyon at end of
the east parking lot at 8 am
and bird until early afternoon. Carpool $3.00 to drivers.

LOOKING AROUND LONGMONT
8 am to about 2 pm
Visit reservoirs and lakes around the Longmont area,
including Union & Jim Hamm, for wintering
waterfowl, grebes and other birds. Learn to identify our winter
visitors. Maybe see a rarity? Meet at Jim Hamm Natural Area parking lot
(County Line Road and 17th Ave., east of Longmont) at
8 am and bird 'til until about 2 pm. Carpool from Jim Hamm $1.00.
Bring Lunch, water & snacks and radios if you have 'em.

BEGINNING GULL STUDY

This is a really special opportunity to learn about gulls
with a "master of
Gull I.D."
No matter if your skill level is zero or way above you will learn a lot
about our gulls
on this study trip. Dress for the weather and bring snack, water and lunch.
Meet at
8:30 at the Niwot park 'n ride at Highway 119 (Diagonal) and Niwot Road,
and bird 'til after lunch.
Carpool $2.00 to various areas were gulls might be found. Bring scopes.

BEGINNING BIRDWATCHING CLASS
This Beginning Birdwatching Class will again be taught by Suzi Plooster, in March
2004. It will help you to learn the basics of what to look for when identifying
birds and will acquaint you with the birds that live in our area. It will also
present information about how to use your binoculars and a scope correctly and
help you to understand why some field guides are better than others, plus much
more helpful information.
Pre-registration is required by phoning 303-441-4150. The class will open to non-seniors on February 23rd. It will include 4 evening class sessions March 8, 15, 22 & 29, 7 to 9 PM, plus one field trip on Saturday morning, April 3rd. Classes held at the East Boulder Senior Center. $37 city of Boulder resident, $42 non-resident. Sponsored by Boulder Senior Center & Boulder Bird Club.

SANDHILL CRANES OF NEBRASKA
6:30 am Friday, to Sunday evening
See the great spectacle of the Sandhill Crane migration in
Nebraska. Leave 6:30 am Friday morning and drive by carpool to Kearney,
NE.
Return on evening of 21st. Limited to 12 people, 4 to each car. Two must be
willing to drive carpool.
Pay your own meals, lodging and carpool fee up front to driver of $40.00.
Those interested MUST register with Ploosters in February. More information
will be given to those who call.

SUNDAY MORNING BIRD STROLL ON BOB-O-LINK TRAIL
9 am until about 11:30 am
Enjoy a beautiful Colorado Sunday morning stroll along the Bob-O-Link trail
to see winter and early spring arrivals. Meet at front door of the East
Boulder
Recreation Center at 9 am and bird until about 11:30. Just show up.

BIRDING EASTERN COLORADO HOTSPOTS
All day
Join Bill on an all day trip to eastern Colorado to Flagler State Park
Wildlife Area and possibly Bonny Reservoir out on the eastern plains. Look
for raptors, wintering waterfowl, eagles and other early migrants. Dress
for variable weather from very cold to warm. Bring snacks, lunch and drink
and radios if you have 'em. Meet at East Boulder Recreation Center, west
end of main parking lot. Carpool is $15.00 paid up front to drivers. Plan
on a full day of birding. Call Bill to let him know you will be attending
